Love In the Dark
Newton said it best, all things attract. So it was natural, in fact that our two bodies came to rest as one, flesh within flesh of a summer’s morn, bursting like hot oil on the icy surface of a careless void, as we fell into the centre of our common pride. Now that was lightning in the sun, the slippery muscularity of youth all hope entwined in locks of love with up made down and no above. But the universe is older now. So for retreat, and in our lesser orbit I admit, we pull the sheet of heaven over what is left, and are surprised to find in night another world we pass into, as through a vortex of affection. Now darkness is our better sun, and truer too, with limbs far gone, we get to orbit with less gravity, and unlike younger bodies trapped in their intensity, we’re finally free to make our own eternity.
